B. J. Medical College for Postmortem and Legal Procedures Observation Visit on – 23th March 2024

– Students of M.Sc. Forensic Science semester-2, from Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology – Institute of Forensic Science and Cyber Security

– Faculty Members: Mr. Aaromal Venugopal, Mr. Anant Kumar Patil, Ms. Mandvi Singh,      Ms. Ayushi Sharma.

 

Purpose of Visit:

The visit to B. J. Medical College was organised as part of an educational initiative to provide students with practical exposure to postmortem procedures and the legal aspects associated with them as a part of their Forensic Medicine paper. The objectives of the visit were to enhance understanding and knowledge in Forensic Medicine and its application in legal proceedings.

 

Activities and Observations:

  1. Introduction to Postmortem Procedures: The visit commenced with an introductory session by the medical staff at B. J. Medical College, where students were briefed about the various steps involved in conducting a postmortem examination. This included the importance of forensic evidence collection, identification of cause of death, and documentation of findings.
  2. Observation of Postmortem: Students were given the opportunity to observe an actual postmortem examination under the supervision of experienced forensic pathologists. They witnessed the systematic approach followed in examining the deceased, including external and internal examinations, organ inspection, and sample collection for further analysis.
  3. Legal Procedures and Documentation: Following the postmortem, students were guided through the legal procedures involved in documenting and reporting findings from the examination. This included understanding the significance of accurate record-keeping, maintaining chain of custody for evidence, and preparing reports for court proceedings.
  4. Interaction with Experts: Students had the chance to interact with forensic experts, pathologists, and legal professionals during the visit. This provided valuable insights into the interdisciplinary collaboration required in forensic investigations and the role of forensic science in the justice system.
  5. Q&A Session: A question and answer session was conducted, allowing students to clarify doubts and seek further information on specific aspects of postmortem examinations and legal procedures.
  6. Visit to the Forensic Medicine Museum: After the postmortem visit the students were taken to the Forensic Medicine Museum of B.J. Medical College, where the models, diagrammatic representations and all the understanding aids related to Forensic Medicine are shown.

Conclusion:

The visit to B. J. Medical College for observing postmortem procedures and legal aspects was highly informative and beneficial for the students of Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Technology – Institute of Forensic Science and Cyber Security. It provided a hands-on learning experience, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications in forensic science and law. Such experiential learning opportunities are essential in preparing students for careers in forensic science and related fields. Overall, the visit was a success in meeting its educational objectives and fostering a deeper understanding of forensic science and its role in the justice system among the participating students.

International Women’s Day Celebration on 09th March-2024

The event celebrating International Women’s Day at our college was a resounding success, marked by an engaging and inspiring series of activities aimed at highlighting and honoring the achievements of women across various fields. Held on 9th March 2024 under the theme “Inspire Inclusion”, the celebration included keynote speeches from distinguished female leaders on women’s rights and empowerment and cultural performances that showcased the diversity and strength of women’s contributions to society.

 

The day was marked by a series of activities and sessions designed to empower, educate, and inspire our students and faculty, the event commenced with the speech of the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, Campus Director of NFSU-National Forensics Sciences University Delhi immensely enriched our event.

 

Highlights of the event included Guest speakers who shared their experiences and challenges in breaking gender barriers in their respective industries. The event also served as a platform for raising awareness about ongoing challenges facing women including gender inequality and violence.

 

The Guests of the event lent voice and vision to our cause Dr. Divya Raviya Jadeja ACP, Assistant Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gujarat State; Dr. Astha Pandey the Associate Professor at the School of Forensic Science, NFSU; Nalini Nageswaran retired Deputy General Manager of SBI; Dr. Kruti Patel the Founder and Director of “She & WE Women Entrepreneurship Foundation”; and Suman Burana the Senior Correspondent for Doordarshan News, highlighted the significance of International Women’s Day and the college’s dedication to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.

We are also honored to have a distinguished guests Dr. Pratiksha Chavda the CEO of Rudrakaha Multi Speciality Hospital, Bareja, Charumati B. Bhagat the Retired Joint Secretary, Home Department of Gujarat State Police, Nilam Baghal a creative YouTuber and runs Bhakti Amrut youtube channel, Avina Bhatt a Police Sub- Inspector, Bhavanaben Dave a Senior Primary School Teacher, Bhaviben Patel a Social Worker, Manisha Mulani the CEO and MD of Terra Reditus and Winex International Private Limited, Dakshaben Makwana a dedicated Sweeper of NSIT, appreciated to contribute a hygienic and clean environment by not taking a single day off during her service of 25 years, their presence shared insights and contribute to the discourse on women’s empowerment.

 

The event showcased the talent through the Cultural Performances of our students exhibiting supreme Goddesses’ dance, inspirational songs and music, and drama on the 1st female teacher Savitribai Phule, paying homage to influential women throughout history.

 

The celebration concluded with a pledge by students and faculty to work towards gender equality, demonstrating the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.

 

Overall, the event not only honored the spirit of International Women’s Day but also sparked renewed enthusiasm among the college community to advocate for gender equality and women’s rights.
