Three-day hands-on training programme titled “From Gene to Patterns”

NSIT successfully conducted a three-day hands-on training programme titled “From Gene to Patterns” from November 20–22, 2025, offering an immersive learning experience in forensic DNA analysis. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sailesh Iyer and featured keynote insights from Dr. Nikunj Brahmbhatt. Expert sessions were delivered by professionals from NSIT- IFSCS, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and guest specialists from leading forensic institutions.

Across the three days, participants explored the complete workflow of DNA profiling—from sample collection to pattern generation—through lectures, demonstrations, and real-time laboratory practice. Key sessions included electrophoresis and band interpretation by Dr. Harjeet Singh; crime scene investigation and evidence management by Dr. Geeta Gupta; PCR and gel electrophoresis training by Ms. Khushboo Gautam; and an in-depth overview of PCR by Dr. Kalpesh Solanki.

Day 3 featured advanced topics such as DNA markers in kinship analysis (Dr. Shruti Dasgupta), cutting-edge forensic DNA techniques (Mr. Ashish Desai), and modern molecular methodologies for profiling (Dr. Sachidanand Singh), concluding with RFLP-based DNA analysis by Dr. Geeta Gupta.

With enthusiastic participation from forensic science students across Gujarat, the programme strengthened practical competencies and deepened scientific understanding, fostering excellence among emerging forensic professionals.
